Membership Eligibility

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Waterloo Wellington Estate Planning Council, please review the qualifications below and fill out the Application for Membership.

We suggest that you attend one of our meetings as a guest of a current member.

General Qualifications shall be as follows:

  1. The applicant must have relevant experience in estate planning to be considered for membership;
  2. The applicant must meet the minimum criteria for eligibility for his/her category of member as defined below; applicant will be categorized based on the type of work performed
  3. The applicant must be referred by a member of the council who is in good standing

Specific Classifications are as follows:

  • Accountants
  • Financial Planners
  • Gift Planners
  • Investment Advisors
  • Lawyers
  • Life Insurance Professionals
  • Trust Company Representatives
  • At-Large (Those who do not fit into a specific classification category, but clearly are engaged in estate planning)

Fees and Meeting Times

Annual Membership Fees $450.00.

Guests (meal cost) $35.00

The membership year runs from July 1 to June 30. If you become a member part way through a membership year, the membership fee for the initial year is prorated.

Subject to changes for specific reasons, regular WWEPC presentations and dinners are held at Golf’s Steak House from 5:30 PM (for start at 6:00 pm) to 8:00 PM on the second Thursday of each the following months: September, October, November, January, February, March, April & May.

There is a year end wrap-up social event held in June. Spouses/partners are invited to attend at no additional cost.

Guests are  asked to contribute a fee of $35.00 to attend a presentation. Please bring a cheque payable to the “Waterloo Wellington Estate Planning Council” to the registration desk upon your arrival. E-transfer is also available.

Do not send payment of the membership fee with an application for membership. You will be advised of the membership fee that is payable if the membership application is accepted.

Agreements

By submitting an application, you agree to the following:

  1. A member of the Waterloo Wellington Estate Planning Council (the “WWEPC”) may contact third parties to verify the accuracy and completeness of any information that you have provided.
  2. The WWEPC may communicate with you by e-mail or other electronic form of transmission.
  3. The WWEPC may disclose the information set out on the application form. For example, the WWEPC may include that information in a general membership list that is made available to the public and other members.

Your application must be accompanied by a recommendation for membership by a current member of the Council. If you are active in estate planning within the Waterloo Region or Wellington County it is likely that you already know a member of the Council. If you are new to the community, please contact the Membership Chair to request an introduction.
