This evening, Brian Janzen of Deloitte’s Winnipeg office will review opportunities with respect to donation of private preferred shares, including structuring after a sale of a business and donation of currently owned preferred shares to a public foundation. He will also discuss a private member’s bill to be introduced in the next couple of months in Parliament and review the opportunities to reduce taxes after a sale of shares/real estate followed by a donation to a registered charity.

Sherri Grosz of Abundance Canada will review their process for accepting donations of private company preferred shares that are repurchased immediately. She will also discuss considerations for shares donated that will not be repurchased immediately (have a planned repurchase over time or no specific repurchase plan).

Following the presentation, there will be some announcements and socialization.
