Join your fellow WWEPC members to hear lawyers Kelly Griffin of Sutherland Mark, and Britta McKenna, who exclusively practices U.S. law, discuss estate planning for the client with assets in the United States. (This is the presentation cancelled in the Spring of 2020 due to COVID-19.)

Kelly’s practice focuses on corporate and commercial law for owner operated and privately held businesses, wills and estate planning, administration of estates and real estate (both commercial and residential). She enjoys assisting her clients through all aspects of the business life cycle and will advise on the incorporation and organization, purchase, sale and financings of private companies. She will also advise her clients on a variety of their day-to-day matters, such as drafting and reviewing various business agreements including, shareholder agreements, distribution agreements, non-disclosure agreements, consulting agreements, service agreements and joint venture agreements.

Britta concentrates her practice in all areas of domestic and complex cross-border trust and estate matters, including planning for high-end estates, estate and trust administration, and the preparation of wills, trust agreements, and other estate planning documents. She regularly counsels individuals regarding a variety of cross-border issues, including U.S. tax planning for foreign spouses, U.S. beneficiaries of Canadian estates, and Canadians with U.S.-situs assets. She also advises on the U.S. tax implications of Canadian family-owned business estate plans. Britta counsels both individuals and entities regarding U.S. tax compliance, estate planning for U.S. citizens living abroad, tax advice and structuring for foreign nationals acquiring U.S. assets, and estate and trust dispute proceedings.
